Pastor Craig Chisolm

As our first entry, I've decided to start with the weekly pastor at Pomona Promise, Pastor Craig Chisolm- a purposeful man who dedicates his service to those in need. After he gave his short, yet penetrating message, we sat down to talk about his calling as a preacher. Mr. Chisolm grew up in a Christian household and had known the Bible from cover to cover, but as he grew older he grew further apart from his religious background. He soon became an addict and started to live in the streets. During the year of 1989 an on, he landed at a place called Pomona Promise, a local church that offered food daily 7 times a week. In 1992, Chisolm relapsed after a brief period of improvement.  Not until 1996, did Chisolm decide to give his life to Christ and start serving the people that once had been himself. In 1999, Chisolm became a regular at Pomona Promise and began to preach. "I believe that it was God, through me being here, God [was] using me."
The Club for Christ only goes to Pomona Promise every first week of the month- dim in comparison to Chisolm's weekly dedication. He says," He's been good. [God] has given me a heart of sacrifice, it takes commitment."
Whatever religious background, lifestyle, or person you follow- this service isn't only about the conversion to the Christian faith. Through our time at Pomona Promise we have seen people changed by the generosity of those willing to help. It has not been, in any means, a one way exchange of "us" helping "them." Instead volunteering in La Verne, has opened all of our eyes and it has been a true blessing to meet with people who have been through different walks of life. Pastor Chisolm's interview has revealed to us the ups and downs of a life dedicated to helping others.
Meet you here next time,
Yiwa
